2004

Sifu Maier graduated with a Ph.D. (dissertation) from the Dept of Ed. Psych. at Texas A&M University.

2007

Sifu Maier moved from TX to NC, attended event in Belgium. Also, a major research presentation, & a book chapter published.

2006

YumCha  Book Series opens. Maier gave 2 programs at Mensa World Gathering.

2000

Sifu Maier inducted into Phi Kappa Phi, National Honor Fraternity & Kappa Delta Pi, Educational Honor Fraternity, based on his Masters-level work.

1998

Sifu Maier was inducted into Ving Tsun Athletic Association (VTAA) as Permanent Member & Instructor. Only American ever certified by Wang Kiu. Also invited into Ph.D. Program. This was Maier’s way of following Wang Kiu’s words: “Wing Chun is a martial art of people who value education as much as training.”

1999

Sifu Maier was invited into a Ph.D. Program at Texas A&M, based on concepts he presented at a conference.

1990

After the 1989 success, Jeff Bolt asked Maier to host the visiting Masters for the Wing Chun Division of this year’s United States National Chinese Martial Arts Competitions.

1974

Maier began martial arts training.

1985

Maier opened his own school, & also earned his 3rd Dan in a program combining TaeKwonDo & Shito-Ryu. Prior to this, he taught 10 years at two of his instructor’s schools, in University clubs, University for-credit P.E. Courses, & other venues.

1986

Five days in a ski lodge in Whistler, B.C. were hosted by G. K. Khoe, Ph.D., faculty at UBC, who had brought his Sifu over from the Netherlands.

Maier happened to open an issue of “Inside KungFu” to a full page ad for a Wing Chun seminar in Canada by Wang Kiu, who at that time was unknown in America. This historic event set several chains of events in motion.

1989

Maier attended the 3rd Canada seminar, where Wang honored him for his work so far.

 

 

 

 

 

Also in 1989, Maier met Jeff Bolt, who invited Wang Kiu to be an honored guest at his United States National Chinese Martial Arts Competitions.

During the Masters’ Demos, Maier assisted Wang in showing portions of the Wooden Man live-partner version. At this event, Wang taught workshops on the pole and the knives.
